On January 1, 2011 Baltimore City 911 received a call for a building fire at 315 North Howard Street. First arriving Engine 23 advised heavy smoke showing from 7 story building and requested 2nd alarm. First alarm units advanced into the structure and found heavy fire conditions.. With interior conditions worsening, the evacuation tones were sounded. As units went to defensive operations, 2 additional alarms were sounded. One fire fighter was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. The Light Rail had to be shut down so units could operate around the overhead lines.
